Almost 10,000 homes, business establishments and other properties in the North East of England are suffering power cuts due to bad wintry weather.

Gales brought down roughly 200 power lines in the north eastern region which has caused massive power outage says Northern Power Grid Engineers.

The bad weather conditions heavily affected the roads which has caused delays and inconvenience to travels on the east coast main line between Newcastle and Scotland.

Northern Power Grid has deployed their engineers on the heavily affected regions to do repairs on 200 faults. There is yet no definite time of when the household power will be back on the whole north east region.

An advisory was also issued by the Met office to warn drivers to take extra caution.
