10 Steps To Healthier Day

Yes, it is not a New Year to make yet another resolution (which, to be honest, we barely ever keep). So maybe it is a good time to set a goal and make each day of your life healthier and happier?

“Planning one perfect, healthy day will help you see what changes you need to make in order to bring better nutrition, more activity and peace of mind into your life on a regular basis.”- says Mark Stafford, M.D., a physician at the Kirklin Clinic at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

This 10 steps schedule might looks very different from your typical day, so engage in some advance planning. Buy the food, schedule the time you need and focus on accomplishing each of these easy – and enriching – tasks. You’ll feel better for it and, we hope, want to incorporate most of these ideas into every day.

  1. 1. Plan to be healthy
  2. 2. Ditch your alarm clock
  3. 3. Don’t overdo your morning workout
  4. 4. Start your day on a positive note
  5. 5. Don’t eat at your desk
  6. 6. Get more active, more often
  7. 7. Listen to music
  8. 8. Watch some comedy
  9. 9. Stop mindless snacking
  10. 10. Keep a diary

One of the old adages says:  Where the mind goes, the body will follows. Taking care of yourself and emotional connections are equally important to your health.

Like New Year’s resolutions, none of us actually ever follows on this type of stuff. We have such hectic lifestyles that it become impossible to stick to anything.

Having a better day is ultimately up to you but there are simple things you can do to make it happen. Get up early and take a walk in the morning air, exercise gets your blood pumping and makes you feel good. Laugh often because laughing actually releases a feel good hormone that will also help you have a better day. And tell the ones you love that you love them, put these things together and you will be sure to have a good day.

The ten steps you give are a great idea, and the best thing is they are absolutely attainable and it shouldn’t be too hard to do. Planning to be healthy means throw away the junk food in your house and replace it with all natural organic foods. Getting more active is an awesome idea even if it means you get up and take walks every morning that kills two birds with one stone by being more active and not over doing the morning work out. And one of the best ideas I read was to get up every morning with a positive attitude, smile on purpose and laugh as much as possible.

I normally get up in a grumpy mood in the morning and I really think it is because of that stupid alarm clock, which you said to ditch in your article. How do you ditch an alarm clock when you have to get up to go to work? I really enjoyed your post and I am really going to commit to trying each and every step you have lined out for us. If your blog is still out here I will gladly report back how it goes. Thanks again.

This is a great post with a lot of good ideas for making your day a better one. One thing that I noticed about myself is that if I eat breakfast in the morning I feel better the rest of the day. I noticed this because I didn’t used to eat breakfast before I went to work and I would be tired and groggy until after lunch, then it dawned on me that was because I was finally getting something in my stomach and my body was then fueled up and ready to go. So my contribution to your article is really in addition to your number one item to “plan to be healthy eating properly and at proper times is part of that effort. I discovered the proper way to eat when I decided I was going to lose weight and one of the biggest things they reiterate all the time is “don’t skip breakfast this fuels your body for the day after a long night of fasting. Follow these tips in this article and just see if you don’t feel better in a very short time. Great post, thanks for the ideas to add to my eating plan.

Thank you for sharing your ideas for starting a better day. I like to start my day of with a walk around the block a cup of coffee and a hot shower if one of those is missing I have found that I can be in a very bad mood. The tips that you gave are great ideas especially choosing to be healthy, I know people hear it all the time but it is so true, you have to eat healthy, drink a lot of water and get some form of exercise every day. I was a non-believer myself until I tried it, and now I find on days that I can’t exercise or eat the way I know I should I can get cranky as well. Take the advice of the author of this blog and try these tips, just see if your days aren’t better.

I don’t mind new year resolutions as long as those who announce them are consistent throughout the entire year. I chuckle at how gyms across the country get more crowded because of new memberships, all of which tend to happen around the month of January. And then, because working out is part of my lifestyle, I watch as the gym traffic slowly, but steadily wanes as the year progresses. I guess it is human nature. I don’t write this because I am judging most people’s tendencies toward exercise; I may be remarkably consistent about exercise, but I am not perfect and I do lack discipline and consistency in other areas of my life. I guess it is a matter of what is important to us or what we are passionate about.

I think you have posted some great advice in your article about steps to a healthier day. I have found that the best way to star your day with energy and in a good mood is to start it with a brisk walk, you can do this outside, or inside it doesn’t matter, what happens Is it gets the juices flowing and you just automatically start to feel better. Eating a good breakfast is important too, I know what your thinking “I’m not a breakfast eater though I never was either until I found a life changing diet that I could stick with and now I don’t like to miss breakfast at all, it is always my biggest meal of the day. Just these two simple things can change your day and your health in so many ways, and you have so many more to choose from in the blog. Great job with this article, please continue to post any helpful healthy ideas you come up with.
