The newly bereaved are at greatly increased risk of heart attack after the death of a close loved one, US researchers say.

Study shows that people are 21 times more at risk of having an heart attack within the first day and six times higher during the first week of losing a loved one.

The common symptoms are chest pain and shortness of breath.

The trauma and psychological stress associated with bereavement could raise heart rate, blood pressure and others which might result in a heart attack.

According to researchers, families should be made aware of such risks whilst enduring these situations.

Emotional

Dr Murray Mittleman, of Harvard Medical School suggested people look after themselves and seek medical attention during hard periods of stress.

And by recognising their are in a period in which they are the most vulnerable, they stand the best chances of coming through.

A further study of recent victims of heart attacked proves that very fact. 13.6% of people take took place in the study recently lost a person close in the 6 months prior to their heart attack.

Although the risks of having a heart attack during the first 6 months is high, having one during the first 7 days is even higher.

Vulnerable

There’s no doubt that all the parents worried about their children. They also expect others to look after them as for their own kids. But how will you find yourself in situation where you, a parent, are questioned by staff members about taking a photo of your own kid in the shopping centre?

It happened to Chris White at the busy Braehead shopping centre, near Glasgow. He was approached by the security guard who claims that taking photos is “illegal”. Photos not somebody else but his own daughter, Hazel, eating an ice cream. You thing: is it overprotection or just act of stupidity?

Mr White claimed that, when he was interviewed by police, an officer warned him that anti-terrorism powers meant his camera phone could be confiscated.

A spokesperson for Breahead said it wanted to “maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for shoppers”.

In response Mr White set up a Facebook page called “Boycott Braehead” which, by Tuesday morning, had been “liked” by more than 21,000 people.

Same day we have quick respond: the Braehead shopping centre owner changes UK photographs policy: customers will be able to take photographs at several UK shopping centres. Capital Shopping Centres said the new rules would apply immediately to its 11 UK shopping centres.

If you’ve ever wondered how safe you and your family could be in big shopping centres, the truth is not easy to guess. Shall we feel overwhelmed or scared? Will you try your luck to find out?

Last weekend, while I was in the shopping centre, I have noticed a lots of Halloween decoration. This make me realised that it is less than a week of time until Halloween’s Monday. It is mean: Halloween party!

But start from the roots: the name Halloween comes from All Hallow Even which mean the eve (night before) All Hallow day. Hallow is an archaic English word for ‘saint’. Therefore, Halloween is the eve of All Saints Day.

What we do and why we do in England on the day?

There are several traditional things like pumpkin lanterns (also known as Jack-o-lantern) according to an Irish legend named after a man name Jack who could enter neither hell nor heaven and had to walk the earth with the lantern until Judgment Day.

There is also tradition of dressing up with strong European and Celtic roots. On Halloween, when it was believed that ghost come back to the earth, people- to avoid being recognized by ghost- would wear masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghost would mistake them for fellow spirits.

Furthermore: Trick or Treat, many parts of England still recognises Halloween as a Mischief Night- when children would knock to the doors demanding a treat. People would disguise themselves as  witches, ghosts, kelpies and spunkies, in order to obtain food and money from nervous householders.

It is nice tradition, especially for children. All the family may have loads of fun organising Hallowing parties, cooking special food and drinks, dressing up as creative as possible. So why don’t give the Halloween green (ups, I mean orange!) light to go?

Six weeks gone fast and first half term this school year arrived quicker than we could expected. As a working parent I have a little less problem how to deal with children staying home but for some it could be quite a challenge.

It’s easy – well, easyish – to keep toddlers entertained when the sun’s shining. A dig in the sandpit, a toddle round the park, a bit of fruit picking and your day is full. It gets a little more challenging, however, when the days shorten and the home comforts of central heating and CBeebies beckon.

Yet autumn, despite the damp mornings and dark afternoons, is the perfect time to get young children out and about. With the credit crunch attacking our finances we need to keep it cheap! But never fear; there are loads of things to do if you keep your ear to the ground, and much of it is free, too. Check out these tips:

  1. 1. Craft: with Halloween ahead you may find it easy and funny (also a bit messy)
  2. 2. Baking: always great fun and such a great variety of choices: cakes, pizzas, sponges…
  3. 3. Galleries and museums: check in your local papers for free entry
  4. 4. Youth hostelling: back to your childhood, always exiting
  5. 5. Nature walks: Whether you live in the city or the country a walk can be spruced up with a specific nature focus
  6. 6. Exercise together: you can jog, you can bike ride or just get fit while exercising at home
  7. 7. Movie night: better at the cinema but even at home watching movie could be a fun.

Remember: There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing.

One question everyone wants the answer to know is: Boy or girl? There are not one not two old wives’ tales which you have heard about predicting the sex of your baby. We could multiply them for you but where is a point? As most of parents to be you have already check on them.

As new finding of University of Oxford and U.S. researches women who are stress while trying for a baby are more likely to have a baby girl. Will that mean that the economic downturn could see more women give birth to daughters? So, if you are trying for baby boy- stay calm, relaxed and be positive.

For instance, nutrition or simple biology may also play a part. Past research has shown that dominant women are more likely to have sons – perhaps because their higher levels of testosterone ‘prime’ their eggs to make fertilisation with male sperm more likely.

But remember: the only really effective ways of finding out the sex of your baby during pregnancy are ultrasound scanning, amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS). Although most women have an ultrasound scan at some stage in their pregnancies now, amniocentesis and CVS will only be offered if there is a medical need. For instance, nutrition or simple biology may also play a part. Whatever the gender: you are going to love your child!

Dispute who is a better driver: men or women is nearly as old as who was first: an egg or the chicken. For years, it’s been the same argument.Men are  better drivers than women. Despite the lack of any real proof, there are few men that would honestly put their hands on their hearts and admit that their wives or girlfriends were better drivers than they are.

Nowadays women appear  to have a positive image of themselves as safer drivers than men, according to a recent poll. In a survey done for insurer MetLife, 51% of women said their gender drives more safely.

If men are going to boast about their superiority to women on the open road, they might as well have some ammunition to back it up, and most of these 10 points are backed up by reputable studies:

1: Men are Involved in Fewer Crashes than Women, Per Mile Driven

2: Women + Cellphones

3 PMS and Sleep Deprivation

4: Studies Show That Both Sexes Agree: Men are Better Drivers

5: 99% of Winning Race Car Drivers are Men

6: Car-Related Female Fatalities on the Rise

7: Men Pass the Driving Test Faster

8 Men Have Stronger Abilities for Judging Speed, Spatial Analysis, & Mathematical Calculations

9: Men Have a Greater Experience With Cars

10: Women are More Likely to Drive with Pets in their Cars & Obstructions in Their Mirrors

No side will ever willingly admit defeat, but anyone who says that women are infinitely superior at driving needs to be made aware of these compelling points. Anyone who denies or downplays them just doesn’t want to admit how true they really are.

Reading is one of the most important parts of the childhood. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. When you help your child learn to read, you are opening the door to a world of books and learning.

Reading aloud to children is the best way to get them interested in reading. Before long they will grow to love stories and books. Eventually they will want to read on their own.

You may start wondering which books are the best for your child. It all depends on their age and the way booksellers tend to arrange their children’s departments, but they are not set in stone. Children develop at different rates and learn to read at different rates. A book we recommend for a three-year-old may equally be enjoyed by some eight-year-olds. Build your own home child’s library and let it grow bigger and better.

With time and help of parents, children can learn how to read and can practise reading until they can read for their own enjoyment. Then they will have a whole world of information and knowledge at their fingertips!

As one of the old proverbs says: What youth is use to, age remembers. Read as often as possible. It paves the way to success in school, which can build self-confidence and motivate your child to set high expectations for life.

Today, on the 5th of October is World Teachers’ Day. It’s been celebrated since 1994. Some of us might still remember being students themselves. Some of us maybe parents by now. How will that work for us? Will we bare in mind how difficult it could be to teach?

Kevin Rooney, Head of Social Science at Queens School in Bushey, Herts, said: “We need to let parents be parents and let teachers teach. A pressing issue is the loss of teacher autonomy in the classroom.”

All of us want to be good parents. And all of us want even better teachers for our kids.  But what about teachers? Did anybody thought about them? Did any of us thought that not only child may be the one to work on? That we, as parents, need some classes, too?

To help us, parents, deliver good parent- teacher relationship we bring you Top 10 tings teacher want parent to know.

So let’s start:

1.       Be involved- get involved- volunteer if you like, ask the question, keep the communication lines open.

Worlds Teacher's Day2.       Check up on your children- read letters and reports, regularly go through kids folder.

4.       Homework’s for kids- help them but don’t do it for them- it does not help!

5.       Let your child make mistakes- as we all have benefits out of it.

7.       Don’t talk negatively about a teacher in front of your child- it will cause problems in pupil- teacher relationship.
